By Judy Reynolds

The Smith Institute is pleased to announce that Professor Coralia Cartis has been appointed as the newest member of its Scientific Board.

Coralia is Associate Professor of Numerical Optimisation at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. Her research interests include algorithm design, analysis and implementation of large-scale optimisation problems in a number of applications and she has contributed to numerous published papers. Coralia was previously a member of the Industrial Mathematics Knowledge Transfer Network Scientific Committee.

"I am delighted that Coralia has joined our Scientific Board. Her expertise in optimisation will enable us to have many interesting discussions as we work with our customers to address some very complex challenges. Coralia is a great role model for our staff, some of whom she will begin to mentor over the coming months."
