The Smith Institute for Industrial Mathematics and System Engineering wishes to appoint Mathematicians / Statisticians / Data Scientists as full-time Data analysts.

The Smith Institute uses core expertise in mathematical modelling and applied statistics to bring fresh thinking and new solutions to the challenges faced by our clients. We are at the forefront of the industrial and business applications of mathematics, with key client relationships in performance engineering, algorithm design, risk modelling, optimisation and data analytics.

The Institute is currently looking to expand its diverse and dynamic team with a data analyst, in response to increasing opportunities for gaining insight from data, for industry and government customers.

We wish to hear from applicants with excellent ability in handling data and using statistical techniques, coupled to a strong motivation to work on high-value business challenges. We expect that the strongest candidates will have exceptional academic achievements, including a Masters degree in some branch of the mathematical, statistical or computational sciences. Prior experience of applying scientific techniques in an industrial or business environment is desirable.

Successful candidates will have the personal skills needed to work effectively with colleagues at the Institute. It will be essential to combine technical knowledge with an eye for detail and the ability to understand and communicate the outputs of data analysis.
