Independence

Established originally as part of Smith System Engineering to enrich their supply of highly skilled staff we became an independent company in 1997 and have experienced continuous organic growth since then. The Smith Institute is owned by its members, and has no shareholders.

Vision

We provide system-level thinking which is underpinned by the mathematical sciences. Companies and organisations come to us for help to address difficult challenges - those which compromise their business. Our experience across many industrial sectors allows us to identify opportunities for rapid transfer of solutions between different application domains.

Staff strength and technical expertise

Our talented and diverse team offers customers a highly effective combination of relevant disciplines, varied professional experiences, and multiple national and cultural perspectives. We have 10 members of staff and an extensive network of long-term relationships with leading academics. Our strong links with the mathematical science base in the UK bring additional expertise to bear on our clients' problems.
